The Waste Management section of the Operations Engineering branch oversees the management of wastes generated from upstream oil and gas operations. Responsibilities include: issuing permits and approvals for air, effluent, and refuse discharges under the Environmental Management Act; managing drilling waste disposal activities; and issuing Certificates of Restoration for wellsites and facilities that have been reclaimed in accordance with all applicable standards.
