A resident of the BC Peace River country for over two decades, Dan is trusted by both the ranching and forestry communities alike.
Dan’s previous16 year tenure with the BC Forest Service, includes over 6 years of extensive Crown rangeland management and planning. Combining extensive field inspections and daily collaboration with ranchers, community pastures, and numerous rangeland stakeholders, Dan fostered cooperative relationships - with a view to sustainable rangeland stewardship. Dan also played a key role in planning, implementing and evaluating the successful district noxious weed control plan.
For ten years Dan served as a ministry compliance and enforcement officer and forest zone technician. He was successful in assuring compliance, while resolving conflicts between the public, landowners, timber licensees, and various construction and service contractors. Dan’s expertise covered a wide variety of issues including: timber valuation, timber harvesting/deactivation, silvicultural operations, seismic exploration as well as, oil and gas site construction.
Dan began his career in Eastern Canada in the agricultural breeding stock and nutrient manufacturing industries. As a trusted trouble shooter, and while working directly with livestock producers, he helped resolve a broad range of on-farm livestock housing/engineering, herd health, and nutritional challenges on a daily basis.
As a fresh agricultural sciences grad, Dan embarked on a global agricultural exchange program, working on extensive livestock operations in Denmark and New Zealand. Several years later, he was selected to participate in an agricultural trade mission - presenting Canadian innovations to both large livestock enterprises and veterinary product manufacturers, in four Central American countries.
Dan and his wife Anne are active in the community and live in a thriving home with their 4 teenagers!
